Summary for families

  • ScreenQuest does not contain advertising.
  • ScreenQuest does not create child accounts or offer chat, social sharing, or public profiles.
  • ScreenQuest does not request a child's email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
  • Child profiles, learning progress, selected apps, and usage totals are stored with the app on the device and are not uploaded to a ScreenQuest user-data server.
  • Google Play and RevenueCat process limited technical and purchase information needed to offer and verify an optional ScreenQuest Plus subscription.

ScreenQuest is designed for children to use with setup and supervision by a parent or legal guardian. This policy applies to the ScreenQuest Android application, package com.screenquest.app, and this website.

Information kept on the device

A parent or guardian may enter or create:

  • a child's first name or nickname, age, grade level, and selected avatar;
  • learning and reward settings, including subjects, questions per round, earned minutes, schedules, daily limits, and quiet hours;
  • a four-digit grown-up PIN; ScreenQuest stores a randomly salted one-way hash of the PIN, not the PIN itself;
  • the apps selected for protection, represented by Android package identifiers; and
  • whether App Protection is enabled.

As a child uses ScreenQuest, the app stores question activity, skill and grade-band information, whether an answer was correct, mastery, recent-question history, streaks, daily totals, earned-time balance, and an earned/spent-time ledger. When optional App Protection is enabled, the app also stores the amount of earned time used in each parent-selected app.

The current version does not store the complete text of a child's selected answer in its practice-history record. These local records operate the learning, rewards, progress, focus-area, and App Protection features for that device.

Usage Access

ScreenQuest reads recent Android app-usage events only while App Protection is enabled. This lets it recognize whether a parent-selected app is in the foreground, count down earned time, and show the ScreenQuest lock screen when needed. ScreenQuest does not use this information for advertising and does not transmit child profiles, question history, selected-app lists, or per-app usage totals to RevenueCat or a ScreenQuest server.

Android backup

The current audited version disables Android Auto Backup for ScreenQuest. Child profiles, PIN material, learning history, selected apps, and app-usage totals are therefore excluded from ScreenQuest's Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer configuration.

Information processed off the device

ScreenQuest does not require a ScreenQuest account and does not operate a server for child profiles or learning records. The production app uses the following providers.

Google Play

Google Play distributes the app and processes subscription purchases. Google receives the payment and account information needed for a Google Play transaction under Google's own terms and privacy policy. ScreenQuest does not receive or store full credit-card or bank-account numbers. The app receives purchase status and related transaction details needed to provide paid access, restore a purchase, and display membership status.

RevenueCat

ScreenQuest uses RevenueCat to retrieve ScreenQuest Plus products and verify subscription access. Because ScreenQuest does not provide RevenueCat with a parent or child account ID, the RevenueCat SDK creates a random anonymous App User ID for the installation. RevenueCat may process that identifier, device and app technical information—such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and last-seen time—and transaction information such as product, purchase token, status, and purchase dates.

ScreenQuest does not send RevenueCat a child's name, age, grade, practice answers, selected apps, or app-usage totals. RevenueCat acts as a service provider that processes subscription information on our behalf. See RevenueCat's privacy information.

Device text-to-speech

ScreenQuest uses the text-to-speech engine selected on the Android device to narrate questions and choices. Some engines process text on the device; others may contact the engine provider under that provider's terms. ScreenQuest does not record a child's voice and does not request microphone access.

This website

This website does not use advertising cookies, behavioral analytics, account registration, or contact forms. Standard hosting infrastructure may temporarily process request information such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, and security logs to deliver and protect the site. If website analytics or a contact form is added later, this policy will be updated before those features are enabled.

How we use information

ScreenQuest uses information only as needed to:

  • create and manage local child profiles and grown-up settings;
  • provide educational questions, narration, adaptive difficulty, progress, and supportive focus-area suggestions;
  • calculate, grant, and count down earned screen time;
  • operate parent-selected App Protection and its visible background notification;
  • offer, verify, restore, and support ScreenQuest Plus subscriptions;
  • protect the grown-up area with a PIN; and
  • comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, and address support or security issues.

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not use children's information for behavioral advertising, cross-app tracking, or marketing profiles. We do not display ads.

Children's privacy

ScreenQuest is child-directed educational software with an adult-controlled setup area. Parents decide what child-profile information to enter and what optional protection features to enable. We intentionally minimize information and keep child profile, learning, and app-usage information on the device instead of sending it to our servers.

If you believe a child provided personal information to us outside the app, contact privacy@screenquest.tech. We will review the request and delete information as required by applicable law.

Retention and deletion

Local child records remain on the device until a grown-up removes that child, clears the app's storage, or uninstalls ScreenQuest. To delete one child's local balance, history, and progress:

  1. Open Grown-ups settings and enter the parent PIN.
  2. Under Children, select the child.
  3. Open Advanced, choose Remove child, and confirm.

To delete all local ScreenQuest data, use Android Settings → Apps → ScreenQuest → Storage & cache → Clear storage, or uninstall the app. More detail is available on our data-deletion page.

Google Play and RevenueCat retain transaction and technical records according to their legal obligations, contracts, and retention policies. To request deletion of data under our control, email privacy@screenquest.tech with the subject “ScreenQuest privacy request.” We may ask for a Google Play transaction ID or another limited proof needed to locate an anonymous subscription record. Do not send a password, PIN, full payment-card number, or unnecessary child information.

Deleting records does not automatically cancel a Google Play subscription. Manage subscriptions through Google Play.

Security

ScreenQuest uses Android app-private storage for local records, a salted one-way hash for the grown-up PIN, and the security provided by Google Play and RevenueCat for purchase-related connections. No security measure is perfect. Parents should protect access to the device, Google Play account, and grown-up PIN and install Android security updates.

Permissions and parent choices

App Protection is configured by a grown-up and uses Android Usage Access, notifications, a visible foreground service, and optional full-screen alert access. These permissions can be reviewed or revoked in Android Settings. A grown-up can turn App Protection off in the ScreenQuest Parents Center. Revoking access may prevent ScreenQuest from recognizing or covering a selected app but does not erase local practice records.

International and regional rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing. A parent or guardian may submit a request to privacy@screenquest.tech. We will respond as required by applicable law after reasonably verifying the request.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when ScreenQuest's features, providers, or legal requirements change. We will update the date shown above and provide additional notice when required. Material changes affecting children's information will be handled according to applicable law.
